Large-scale order for Gösgen power station
July 2, 2013
A total of 15 heavy haulage transports and several special transports were carried out. Almost daily one or two heavy haulage combinations travelled from Basel’s Auhafen port, whereto the components were delivered by means of two inland barges, to Gösgen. They thereby had to pass through several narrow sections as well as a long-term construction site in Waldenburg. “Precise planning and several on-site inspections by Bau-Trans’ transport technicians allowed for smooth processes,” Josef Ammann, the Head of the Transport Department opines. The heavy haulage drivers and one removal squad provided by a Swiss partner company had their hands full with the transports’ total height of up to 4.85 metres and total widths up to 5.30 meters. All components were delivered to the power station on time and undamaged.
Overall project handling by Felbermayr’s ITB Division
However, the project not only included the previously mentioned combined transports. The main part, a 463-tonne generator mount middle section was transported to Gösgen using a 32-axle gooseneck trailer supplied by iTB Lanzendorf (A). This mount middle section had also been delivered to Basel by means of an inland barge and had been transshipped at Auhafen port using a gantry crane and an additional Derrick crane while an 18-axle self-propelled transporter provided by Felbermayr’s Project Department in Wels (A) was used to move the massive components in the power station itself.
All branches were supported by our Swiss location in Mägenwill, which clarified all matters related to road transports with the relevant authorities and police departments.
