At the end of January, Felbermayr subsidiary Bau-Trans in Liechtenstein was responsible for carrying out the lifting work on a connecting bridge between the old and new buildings of a grammar school in Vaduz. Using a truck-mounted crane, the 17 metre long and almost twelve tonne truss was brought into position and assembled using an articulated telescopic platform.

"The challenge with this project was to keep the bridge exactly horizontal so that the fastening holes aligned with the previously installed threaded rods on the wall," explains project manager Roger Beck. Thanks to a four-point hanger with chain hoist, the position could be precisely adjusted using a hand lever. Within seven hours, the new connecting bridge between the old and new high school buildings was successfully lifted into place. The final installation work was then carried out using a 20-metre articulated telescopic platform.

"We are particularly flexible at the Vaduz site when it comes to technical assignments like this," notes Beck. He has a total of almost 30 platforms and forklifts in Liechtenstein. With mobile cranes ranging from 60 to 150 tonnes load capacity, he is also well equipped for most crane operations. And if a more powerful truck-mounted crane is ever needed, the Felbermayr branch in Lauterach is not far away. "We have access to the entire lifting technology of our parent company Felbermayr via this branch," says Beck happily. This means that Bau-Trans customers also benefit from nearby Felbermayr hire stations. "This brings advantages in terms of pricing," says Beck, who is pleased that he can also handle technically demanding projects.
