Pneumatic crane in action for lightning conductor installation

16/11/2020 | At the end of October, a work platform was lifted with a pneumatic crane for the installation of a lightning conductor in Vaduz/Liechtenstein. The operation was carried out by Felbermayr subsidiary Bau-Trans.

It is intended that the state parliament building in Vaduz be protected from powerful storms, and a lightning conductor is indispensable for this. The Felbermayr subsidiary Bau-Trans lifted a Ruthmann TB270 work platform to facilitate the installation on the roof of the building. "It was essential to take into account the relatively low load-bearing capacity of the ground where the platform was to be set down," explains project manager Roger Beck. The decision was therefore made in favour of the 3.5 tonne truck-mounted platform with 27 metre telescopic platform superstructure from Ruthmann. The weight of the work platform was lifted by an AC 100 pneumatic crane, which brought the device to a radius of 24 metres and set it down behind the building on the foundation constructed from wooden battens. The lightning conductor could then be installed on the roof of the state parliament building.

The operation was carried out at the centre of Vaduz. The lifting technology specialists successfully completed the job.
